During the building of the New York Public Library on 5th Avenue in Manhattan by the Norcross and West Co., marble was transported from the quarries in South Dorset, VT to Manchester on the Manchester, Dorset & Granville Railroad from 1903-1916. The track crossed the Manley property on the east side of the barn and the raised track bed and ties are still apparent today.
